Stormzy ‘clouds up’ Newham with new politically fuelled ‘Vossi Bop’ music video!
The rapper has released his first music since 2017, joined by a group of young dancers as he appears in front of landmarks over London!
The production got in touch with Film Office looking for locations across the borough to facilitate car stunts for the video.
Silvertown Square was the ideal location on our books, with an open concrete area with the back drop of London featuring Canary Wharf and the O2.
The production utilised the space by filming various scenes with cars stunts and bikes, also including a filming regular in Tower Hamlets and Newham, Idris Elba.
Location manager Chris Kennedy said, “Silvertown Square worked perfectly for the scene, as it is so difficult now to find large accessible derelict wastelands in London, with a great urban back drop. Emily from the Film Office, worked really hard, and was so helpful in turning a great location around at very short notice.”
Emily Film Officer on the job said, ‘It was a great location for the variety of shots they wanted to do in one day. The vast amount of space here in Newham gave them a good opportunity to get all the shoots they needed. Audience’s get to see some iconic London location’s across the whole video, and it’s great to have Newham featured for such an influential music artist.”
The video has already reached 4 million views on Youtube, we look forward to seeing more music from the singer in the future and hopefully welcoming him to more of our boroughs!
