The borough of Newham has once again proven itself to be a vibrant backdrop for the screen, hosting an exciting mix of productions over the past year. From gripping television dramas to independent films and creative music videos, Newham’s diverse locations and dynamic atmosphere continue to attract filmmakers from across the industry. Here are a few highlights of filming in the borough, showcasing the stories, talent, and cinematic moments that have brought Newham to our screens…
This year we embraced the excitement of gritty Studio TV Dramas making Newham their home, including Guy Richie’s Paramount+ series, Mobland. With its authentic boxing heritage and atmospheric setting, the production found themselves situated (on more than one occasion) at the desirable Peacock’s Gym. Following the success of season 1 earlier in the year, the production returned for season 2 has continued to feature Newham, ensuring the borough remains central to the show’s cinematic identity. We expect to share more updates on Season 2 in the coming year. For now, the Christmas Break makes a perfect occasion to catch up on the goings-on of Season 1.
The historic boxing gym also proved appealing to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s first international production, TV drama, Fightland. The project utilised Peacock’s repeatedly throughout the last quarter of the year. The series follows former heavyweight champion Maduka “Duke” Kilroy as he returns to London’s underground boxing scene to confront betrayal and reclaim his legacy. With its gritty storyline and international production team, Fightland promises to feature East London’s communities on a global stage. Although we are unable to share images or trailers relating to this production at this time, The Film Office were proud to help facilitate a unique work experience opportunity for an alumni of our On Location Course, Vertika Batra. The placement offered hands-on insight into the world of film production, allowing her to build valuable knowledge and skillset within the industry on one of the borough’s most exciting productions of the year. On working alongside the Fightland Team, Vertika said, “It’s been great to be a part of a set with such lovely people. I’ve had such a positive experience and can’t wait to see the finished product!”. Stay tuned in the New Year for more sneak peeks!
Newham: The Repeat Star of TV Drama
This year we have welcomed a number of exciting projects to the borough, most of which are productions returning for additional seasons of the back of filming with us in previous years. When productions return to film with us, it’s a huge win for everyone involved. It shows that the borough and its locations have delivered exactly what the creative team needs—whether that’s flexibility, authenticity, or great support on the ground. Repeat visits build stronger relationships with crews and local stakeholders, making the process smoother and more efficient each time. It also brings sustained economic benefits to the area and reinforces our reputation as a reliable, film-friendly destination.
In 2025 we welcomed back to the borough, ITV’s Trigger Point for Series 3, BBC’s Big Mood for Series 2, and Apple TV’s Criminal Record for Season 2 to name but a few, and we were pleased to see each and every one of them again! Trigger Point filmed explosive scenes in Stratford’s East Village with actors in Counter Terrorism Police Uniforms, Big Mood were at local popular venue Fold Night Club with scenes in the local area too and Criminal Record set up camp twice at Ferrier Point in Canning Town for various scenes for their gripping storyline.

Location Shoutout!
This year we’d like to give a big shoutout to East Ham Mortuary in Newham! A recently revived location that has been on our books for many years but really impressed us this year and it’s quickly become a standout filming spot in the borough with so much to offer. With its authentic architecture and features and versatile spaces, it offers a distinctive backdrop that’s hard to find elsewhere. In October, it hosted a Netflix documentary shoot, and we’re thrilled to have more exciting projects lined up for the new year. Huge thanks to everyone involved for making this space available for creative storytelling!
