The borough is seeing a sharp rise in filming as summer approaches, with shoots from a wide range of productions sprouting up in our locations. We take a look back at who the Newham Film Office, managed by The Film Office, have welcomed into the borough in recent months, see a few of the highlights below!
One Day in Newham…
Netflix original drama ‘One Day’ whipped up a social media frenzy after it’s release earlier this year. This much anticipated adaptation based on the 2009 novel by David Nicholls of the same name, is the second adaptation of the story after the 2011 film version starring Anne Hathaway. It follows the 20-year relationship of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, who meet at a graduation ball after graduating from the University of Edinburgh.
The production filmed driving scenes around several street in the borough including Albert Road, Factory Road, Connaught Road and Connaught Bridge. An action vehicle was placed on low-loader and driven around these streets with a police rolling road block for ensured public safety. Keep your eyes peeled for these shots!

A Quiet Place: Day One dock into Newham…
Yet another installation to the Quiet Place universe is set to hit our screens in June. After the successes of the first two films, ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ is set to be a thrilling prequel that takes it all the way back to the first day of the terrible apocalypse of A Quiet Place’s world.
Newham hosted the production in the borough for a very large shoots that took place on Royal Victoria Dock earlier this year with 200+ strong cast + crew filming scenes on a boat with various scenes taking place on board. As well as another large shoot on Connaught Bridge and the Dock Edge walkway with characters wading into the waterside.

Rappers make waves at Pontoon Dock…
Rap artists Rushy and AntLive filmed their music video for new track ‘Estelle’ at Royal Albert and Pontoon Dock with the pair riding around on jet skis and rapping on the docks with the striking Millenium Mills in the background.
The location provides a fantastic backdrop for the video with great shots of Canary Wharf and over to the O2 arena.

Tv Drama visits Memorial Recreation Ground…
Paramount Plus original drama ‘Insomnia’ follows Line of Duty star Vicky McClure playing a woman whose insomnia pushes her to the cusp of a psychotic breakdown. Based on the bestseller of the same name by Sarah Pinborough, the drama follows character Emma Averill, a successful career woman who inexplicably stops being able to sleep and must unravel the secrets to her painful past before her insomnia takes her over the edge.
The production filmed various scenes at local park, Memorial Recreation Ground, including a 5-aside football game on the pitches, dialogue scenes on a bench and in the car-park with an action vehicle.
