Set to kick off in France June the 7th, The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be the eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and we were pleased to see the commercial filmed at Millennium Mills Last Month!
The BT Sport commercial got in contact with The Film Office, seeking an open alternative space to film various scenes with professional footballers such as Christine Sinclair, Lucy Bronze, Jen Beattie on set. The commercial was released May the 22nd in the lead up to the start of the matches in June. Please see below.
Film Officer on the job Emily Gunn commented, “It was great to have this filmed in Newham. The BBC’s ‘Change the Game’ campaign features some of the world’s most famous footballers as well as the South London rapper Mrs Banks involved with the shoot. The song was created to “inspire the next generation of women who might follow in these athletes footsteps”. The re-work track ‘Remember The Name’ was developed, created and produced by a team of women. The location helped connect and tie all the aspects together to gives the ‘nitty gritty’ urban feel for the shoot”.
Location manager Josh Yudkin on the job commented, “This location in Newham worked well and offered a variety of spaces for the footballers to explore in the scenes. We had flexibility to work around the building for the shots we needed and the backdrop of the concrete was perfect for the scenes. The Film Office are always great at turning around shoots in time to facilitate commercials in the borough.”
